• Responsibilities
• Collect blood and other specimens using correct venipuncture and collection techniques
• Verify patient identity and correctly label all specimens
• Follow order-of-draw, tube selection and specimen-handling requirements
• Ensure safe handling, storage and transport of specimens to the laboratory
• Maintain a clean, safe and well-stocked collection area
• Record collection details accurately in paper and electronic systems
• Adhere strictly to infection-control and safety guidelines
• Requirements

Certificate or Diploma in Phlebotomy or Medical Laboratory Sciences from a recognised institution.

• Current registration with the Botswana Health Professions Council (BHPC). (where applicable)
• Proven phlebotomy experience and competence in venipuncture
• Knowledge of specimen types, tubes and handling requirements
• Experience in a hospital or private laboratory (desirable)
• Paediatric and difficult-draw experience (desirable)
