THE OPPORTUNITY

Trade moves fast, and so do the rules that govern it. As Global Trade Compliance Counsel, you'll serve as a subject-matter expert helping us stay compliant with international trade control requirements across the Americas, EMEA, and APAC — and helping our Legal team and business understand trade and export-control risks, compliance, and program controls.

This is an execution-focused lawyer role reporting to the Senior Trade Compliance Counsel, Americas Lead. You'll advise business stakeholders on transactional trade compliance matters in client contracts, support trade-related reviews of our services and offerings, and develop the training, tools, templates, and guidance that power our global trade compliance program.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

⚖️ Support the implementation and maintenance of our trade compliance program initiatives across the Americas, EMEA, and APAC — executing priorities set by global and regional trade compliance leadership

📘 Develop and deliver trade compliance training using approved content and frameworks

📋 Develop, review, and implement trade policies and internal controls (subject to review and approval by senior trade compliance counsel)

✍️ Plan and draft trade compliance communications for internal stakeholders to reinforce policies, guidance, and escalation pathways

🔍 Work with senior management and outside counsel on risk assessments — recommend improvements to the trade compliance program and support implementation of adopted recommendations

🛠️ Build trade compliance and monitoring tools with internal stakeholders to escalate and mitigate trade-related risks

🤝 Provide objective, focused, practical advice to our businesses and Legal professionals on trade/export laws, our Code of Business Ethics, and related policies

🚩 Collaborate with Legal colleagues and the business to identify, analyze, and mitigate trade-related risks — including localized training on trade/export law issues

🗂️ Respond to and help manage internal audits and internal investigations related to trade/export law issues

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

✅ Juris Doctor (or comparable legal Master's degree) and an admitted lawyer — bar admission required

✅ 3–5+ years of experience as a lawyer focused specifically on trade compliance law (not general corporate/commercial law)

✅ Demonstrated knowledge of international trade controls and export regulatory systems around the world — including U.S. export controls — with exposure across multiple jurisdictions; ideally, experience on specialized regulated export matters working with Export Control Officers

✅ Experience supporting compliance programs: preparing policies and internal controls, developing and conducting training, responding to government inquiries, drafting and reviewing contracts, and supporting risk assessments, internal audits, and internal investigations

✅ Ability to prioritize and synthesize complex legal analysis into clear, practical recommendations

✅ Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, and negotiation skills — credible with all levels of management, cross-culturally

✅ Highly motivated and proactive — able to articulate company vision and policy, and seek out areas of risk and priority

✅ Adapts nimbly to changing business needs

✅ Fluent in English
