Recreation Aid (LIFEGUARD)

About the position: This position will be assigned to the Aviation Cadet Pool, Outdoor Recreation on Maxwell AFB, AL. This position is an Intermittent/Flexible position, which means you may be scheduled from 0 to 40 hours per week based on mission need. This position is a Term position and the appointment will not last beyond 31 Oct 2026.

The following are duties you may be required to accomplish but it is not all inclusive - Continuously observes swimming area to ensure safety of patrons. - Ensures the swimming area is open to patrons at scheduled times and only authorized persons are admitted to the area. - Rescues swimmers in trouble, promptly administers first aid, and calls for medical assistance if and when needed. - Warns swimmers of unsafe environmental or health conditions, ocean conditions of rough water or hazards, and recommends closing swimming areas until safe conditions prevail. - When working at pools, may operate water pumps and control chemical additives to ensure pool water meets specified standards. -Ensures that diving boards are inspected frequently for cracks or loose matting, and that necessary repairs are made. - May perform other related or incidental duties as assigned for the daily operation of the swimming area to include: cleaning of bath houses, wading pools, main pools, pool decks, beach areas, sunbathing areas, etc.
