POWER PLANT OPERATOR

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: You will serve as a journey level Power Plant Operator at a hydroelectric facility whose principal assignment is operation of the powerhouse. The powerhouse consists of 27 main generators, 2 station service generators, a spillway with 19 gates and an intake structure with 29 gates.

Make routine and non-routine inspections of project areas and equipment.

Observe, check, report and/or record required operational data and information to the control room and/or in station records.

Operate all power facility equipment to prescribed standards or as directed.

Assume local control of stopping, starting, synchronizing, adjusting load and voltage, etc., for units and auxiliary equipment.

Operate required switching to isolate or remove equipment from service and test operations for restoration.

Prepare clearances under the direction of the Chief Power Plant Operator.

Place clearance tags and operate equipment in accordance with project "safe-clearance" procedures.

Perform light cleaning, lubrication of equipment, and Operator-related preventative maintenance.

Maintain security surveillance of the project.
