Histopathology Technician

About the Position: This position is located at Portsmouth Naval Medical Center, Directorate of Clinical Support, Department of Anatomical Pathology Service. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Check specimens and accompanying paperwork for discrepancies. Accession of Histopathology specimens for processing within the Histology Laboratory. Perform basic maintenance procedures within the laboratory. Interact with Healthcare providers to ensure that all specimens submitted have been properly ordered. Understand how to properly handle and dispose of chemical and pathology tissue specimens. Verify the accuracy and completeness of the request and proper sample submission. Adhere to practices and regulations governing safety in the laboratory.
