GENERAL MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR

About the Position: Serves as Supervisor with delegated authority to execute maintenance activities for the Maintenance and Repair Section floating and land based plant. Arranges for the maintenance and repair of plant, attendant plant, engineer equipment, and support equipment engaged in construction operations. Within established policies and practices, organizes workers into the most productive work unit to accomplish assigned tasks.

Plans daily, weekly, monthly, and occasionally annual work schedules and sequence of operations for subordinates.

Establishes deadlines and priorities on the basis of a general work schedules and methods and policies established and/or approved by higher levels of supervision.

Explains work requirements, methods, and procedures; instructs subordinates in new procedures.

Participates in periodic or special inspections performed by other District personnel as requested.

Develops performance standards, counsels employees on performance, and makes formal and informal performance appraisals.

Identifies employees training needs and initiates recommendations to provide necessary training.

Prepares correspondences, technical reports, status reports, and other documentation for Government Purchase Card recordkeeping requirements.
