BOATBUILDER

You will serve as a BOATBUILDER in the Preservation Shop (970), Production Resources Department Manager (901), Production Resources Department (900) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

You will interpret work orders and repair requests to determine required boat building and repair assignments.

You build temporary wood supports and shoring of various structural parts and large assemblies of boats.

You will lay linoleum and other floor, deck, or ladder tread coverings on boats.

You will install insulating materials such as cork or fiberglass on boats.

You will perform boatbuilding repairs, maintenance, major overhaul and renovations, from measurements given in docking plans.

You will set up, operate and maintain various types of woodworking machinery such as bandsaws, jigsaws, planers, joiners, molders, mortisers, and sanders.
